What Does Immobilization Mean?
Immobilization, in the context of wastewater treatment, can be defined as the process of using a chemical reaction to hold something. Immobilized microorganism technology is an effective way to treat wastewater in treatment plants. Chemical or physical means are used to limit enzymes and cells in a confined area and these can be used again. Wastewater is transported to sewage treatment plants via sewer networks that collect wastewater from homes, offices and industries. This water has to be treated prior to disposal into water bodies. Trenchless methods of installation can be used to install sewer pipes, and trenchless rehabilitation methods can be used to repair damaged and old sewer pipes.
