Female Hex Connector

What Does Female Hex Connector Mean?

Female hex connector is a hexagonal shaped or six-sided socket that fits around the outside of a male hex bar. A female hex connector fits on the head of a male hexagonal connector or fastener such as a bolt or nut. Hex connectors are used for a number of applications in the field of construction.

In trenchless technology, drill rigs and augers are provided with hex connectors for easy attachment of drill string or augers as the borehole progresses.

Trenchlesspedia Explains Female Hex Connector

The internal walls of the hex socket are slightly curved to help apply torque to the fastener flats instead of the corners. This allows the fastener to be tightened more when needed by applying more torque without the risk of rounding it off.

At one end of the socket or female hex connector is the drive socket provided for attaching a turning tool such as a wrench or ratchet in order to screw it on to the male hex connector. Male and female hex connectors are easy to install and tighten.
